Mattresses for children’s beds
A mattress is not included with any Luletto bed – you choose it separately after selecting the bed model and size. This is a conscious decision by the manufacturer: every child has different needs, body weight and build vary, and preferences regarding firmness can differ even within the same family. By choosing the mattress separately, you have full control over what your child sleeps on.
At Luletto, you will find several mattress models grouped by composition: foam, foam + latex, foam + latex + coconut mat, foam + coconut mat, and foam + VISCO (memory foam). Each model is available in the full range of sizes matching Luletto beds – from 120 × 60 cm to 200 × 140 cm. Some models are available with fast 48h shipping.
Important information – the mattress is shipped separately
Mattresses are shipped from a second, separate warehouse and are not delivered on the same day as the bed. Even if you order the bed and mattress at the same time, they may arrive in separate parcels. If you are preparing a nursery or furnishing a room in advance, order the mattress together with the bed – this way you can avoid a situation where the bed is assembled but the mattress is still on the way.
An additional note: most Luletto mattresses are delivered vacuum-packed or rolled. After unpacking, the mattress needs 24–48 hours to fully expand and reach its final shape. During this time, do not let your child sleep on the new mattress.
How to choose the right mattress size for a Luletto bed
Mattress size = bed size selected when ordering.
If you choose a 160 × 80 cm bed, you order a 160 × 80 cm mattress. The mattress fits into the bed frame by approx. 3 cm on each side – this is intentional and prevents dangerous gaps between the mattress and the frame where a child’s head or limb could get trapped.
What mattress thickness is suitable for different ages?
Mattress thickness directly affects the height at which the child sleeps above the floor. It is worth taking this into account when choosing both the mattress and the bed legs:

10 cm mattress: with standard 10 cm legs – the child sleeps at approx. 17–23 cm above the floor (depending on the model)

10 cm mattress + legs for drawer version (~19 cm): the child sleeps at approx. 35–37 cm above the floor

15 cm mattress: higher sleeping position, recommended for older children or Alto models

20 cm mattress (Bambi): the child sleeps at approx. 26 cm above the floor (flat slatted base, low legs)
Cover – properties and care
Every Luletto mattress comes with a zip-off cover – the zip is discreetly sewn into the sides or bottom of the mattress, allowing the cover to be easily removed for washing. There is no need to lift or remove the mattress awkwardly.

After unpacking – what you need to know
Luletto mattresses are vacuum-packed or rolled for transport. After removal from the packaging, the mattress needs time to fully expand and regain its intended properties:

Most models (ROSSA, ELIOT, SHARON, COLLIN, and others): 48 hours

LOGAL model (VISCO / memory foam): 24 hours
During this time, do not let your child sleep on the mattress – it has not yet reached its final thickness or firmness and does not provide the correct orthopaedic support. Lay the mattress flat at room temperature, on a flat surface or directly on the slatted base, and wait until it has fully expanded.
Frequently asked questions about Luletto mattresses
Is the mattress included in the bed price?
No. No Luletto bed is sold with a mattress included. The mattress must be selected and ordered separately in this category. The bed price includes the frame, the sprung slatted base (or flat base in XL and Bambi sizes), and assembly components.
What mattress size should I choose for a 160 × 80 bed?

Why won’t the mattress arrive with the bed?

How long does the mattress need to expand?
Models ROSSA, ARIA, COLLIN, JACK, SHARON, SANDY, ELIOT, CINDY, and BILLY need 48 hours. The LOGAL model (VISCO) needs 24 hours. During this time, do not let your child sleep on the new mattress.
Which mattress is best for an infant?
For infants, Luletto recommends the SHARON or ELIOT model – the latex foam ensures excellent air circulation, wicks away moisture, and reduces the risk of overheating. These models also have anti-allergic and anti-fungal properties. A thickness of 9–12 cm is suitable for small children.
What is the difference between latex and a coconut mat?
Latex is elastic, wicks away moisture very well, and adapts to the shape of the body – recommended for allergies and excessive sweating. A coconut mat is firmer and more rigid – the natural coconut fibres stiffen the mattress and provide strong spinal support. Models ELIOT and CINDY combine both layers.
What is VISCO foam?
VISCO (memory foam) is a thermoelastic foam that adapts to the shape of the body under the influence of heat and pressure. It relieves pressure on the joints, relaxes muscles, and provides ideal support in every sleeping position. It is available in the LOGAL and LUKE models. The colour of the VISCO layer (blue, green, pink, etc.) is purely aesthetic – the properties are identical regardless of colour.
Can the mattress be washed in a washing machine?
The mattress itself – no, but the cover – yes. Every model is equipped with a zip-off cover that can be machine washed at up to 40°C. Avoid tumble drying. The mattress itself should not be soaked – in case of stains, clean it locally with a damp cloth.
