What Age Is a House Bed Suitable For?

Safe, eco-friendly, comfortable, and beautiful – this is what a child’s bed should be like. Our house bed model meets all these requirements. At what age should a child be to sleep in one independently? Some parents put their baby to sleep in a cot from the very first days of life. Others prefer to sleep with their little one in their own bed. However, both eventually have to decide when to move their child from their bed or a cot with bars to a separate, “real” bed. One of the most popular bed models for younger and older children is the house bed.

Sleeping Separately

Even if parents put their baby to sleep in a separate cot, it was usually placed close to the parents’ bed. Moving a little one to a larger house bed is almost always connected with moving them to another room and spending the night apart. When should this moment come? There are no right or wrong answers here, nor is there a clearly defined age limit. Every child is different, and it is the mother or father who knows best when their child seems ready to take this step towards nighttime independence. Psychologists suggest considering this transition between around 1.5 and 2 years of age. It is good not to delay this decision too long, because the longer a child sleeps with their parents, the more natural it feels to them, and the less willing they may be to move to their own bed. However, the most important rule should always be: do not force it. If the parents notice that their child is not ready for separation, it is better not to expose them to unnecessary stress.

A House Bed – A Little One’s Own Kingdom

To make sleeping independently in their own “grown-up” bed safe and comfortable, it is worth choosing a house bed. Why? Its interesting shape makes falling asleep there seem more exciting to a child than in their parents’ “boring” bedroom. In addition, during the day the structure of the bed encourages play. Another advantage is that the roof-like construction creates a feeling of cosiness and safety. The child feels as though they are in their own private “base,” where no nighttime monsters are allowed in. What is more, the house-shaped frame gives plenty of possibilities for hanging cotton balls or other light garlands, which not only add charm but also provide a soft glow that does not disturb sleep and gives the child a sense of reassurance.

The Perfect House Bed Model

In our offer, you can find many variations of house beds. All of them are made of pine wood, double-smoothed (both hand-sanded and machine-sanded), have rounded edges, and are painted with safe, eco-friendly paints and varnishes. Which model should you choose? Of course, the one that appeals most to the parents and the future little owner.

However, liking the design should not be the only criterion. For younger children, lower beds without drawers and with extra protection in the form of a dense safety rail will be a better choice. Although our floor bed models do not have traditional legs, they are raised 1 cm above the ground to ensure proper air circulation under the mattress.

We can make beds in various sizes. Some parents prefer to start with shorter beds, while others – especially those who lie with their child while helping them fall asleep – choose full-size models. Older children can confidently use a slightly higher bed with spacious drawers underneath for bedding and small items. Once falling out of bed is no longer a concern, you can opt for a version without a safety rail.
