A Forest-Themed Room or a Room for a Little Princess?

A Child’s Room with a Wooden Bed in a Forest Theme or a Room for a Little Princess?

A child’s first independent room is a very special moment in their life. Little girls usually really want to take part in decorating it. Recently, two main interior trends have dominated Instagram and Pinterest when it comes to rooms for young girls: the forest theme and the princess theme. Which one should you choose? The internet is full of interior inspiration. With so many ideas, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and get carried away with shopping, especially when we are choosing things for our beloved children. What can you do to stay calm and create a room for your daughter that is both stylish and functional? Which style is better? There is no one style that is more functional or better. Taste is a very individual matter. The important thing is to keep a sense of balance.

Little Princess

A fascination with princesses accompanies almost every little girl. Sometimes she simply wants accessories featuring crowned cartoon characters, but more often she dreams of an entire bedroom that looks like a fairy-tale chamber. Although children love extravagant decorations, it is worth gently toning down their enthusiasm. Walls painted entirely pink, combined with lots of shiny accessories and sparkly decorations, will not only overwhelm the room, but will also become boring quite quickly and may constantly distract the young resident of the room.

It is definitely better to choose “princess-style” accessories – pastel wallpaper on one wall (it is best to choose the pattern together with your child), a more decorative lamp (although it is worth checking whether too many embellishments affect the light it gives), imaginative storage containers for toys, and pictures or posters featuring fairy-tale characters. A rabbit-style rug in the owner’s favourite colour will also add cosiness and the splendour worthy of a little royal highness. The most important piece of furniture in every bedroom is the bed.

A wooden house bed is perfect for a little princess. You can choose a simple model or one with a decorative railing. It is easy to attach a fancy canopy, paper flowers, crowns, or lights to the frame (and remove them later when the princess phase passes). Garlands hung between the roof peaks will turn the furniture into a fairy-tale palace! Forest spirit A child’s room in a forest theme is, in some ways, the opposite of the princess motif. It is usually more toned down and peaceful. It is perfect for girls who do not necessarily want to be princesses or who share a room with a brother.

It will certainly appeal to parents who appreciate Scandinavian style, minimalism, and nature. Although slightly cooler in mood than a princess palace, it still has a childlike charm. However, if overdecorated, it can quickly become repetitive and lose its appeal. Before turning your little one’s entire bedroom into a forest, it is better to focus on accessories. One wall with forest-themed wallpaper will be the perfect solution (you can also decorate the walls with easy-to-remove stickers). Natural-material toy storage baskets, lighting shaped like forest animals, or curtains with birds, foxes, bears, or deer motifs will work beautifully too. The walls can feature not only pictures of forest creatures, but also macramé, wicker baskets, or shelves shaped like branches or trees. A rug made from natural material will complete the look.

As in any bedroom, the bed plays the leading role in a forest-themed room as well. A simple wooden house bed makes an excellent base. Subtle yet interesting in form, it stimulates the creativity of little forest lovers. It is easy to decorate with forest-themed lighting or paper ornaments (it also looks beautiful with dried grasses or reindeer moss attached). Pine wood in its natural colour brings to mind a woodland cottage and smells like the forest. Our beds are perfect for every child’s room.
